Mathison PPHB Ltd was founded by Ian Mathison in 1981. Having spent his working life up until this point in the marine engineering industry, Ian made a decision to start his own business. Providing employment for the local area and offering high levels of service to local residents has always been and continues to be very important to Ian and the company. Having felt that there was always a certain stigma associated with the industry, Ian looked to change this by providing customers with a professional and personal service whilst providing excellent standards to the new growth of heating installation in UK domestic homes.
Since the formation of the company, Mathison’s has offered apprenticeships to many local engineers and to this day continues to do so. These apprenticeships are very highly sought after due to the outstanding reputation locally for providing a strong apprenticeship programme with successful candidates being mentored and trained by our highly skilled and experienced engineers. Many of the engineers that have over the years successfully completed their training with us have either remained with the company, some for many years, or have gone on to build very successful independent careers.
In 1982, just one year after the formation of the company, Mathison’s became one of the first gas installation companies to become Corgi Gas Safe registered although this did not become mandatory until 1991. The company is now, as well as continuing to be Gas Safe registered, fully NICEIC and OFTEC registered.
Over 35 years later Ian and his wife Rita remain an integral part of the company whilst their son Jason now manages the day to day running with the help of a strong, dedicated management team.
